Remedial Sports Massage

Therapeutic treatment for pain and recovery

What is Remedial
Sports Massage?

Remedial Sports Massage is a targeted, therapeutic form of massage that focuses on treating musculoskeletal pain, injuries, and movement restrictions. It’s designed not only for athletes, but for anyone experiencing muscular tension, overuse injuries, or postural imbalances caused by work, lifestyle, or repetitive activities.

Unlike relaxation massage, remedial sports massage is more focused and problem-solving in nature. Your therapist will assess your body to identify areas of tension, dysfunction, or imbalance, then apply specific techniques to help release tight muscles, improve mobility, support recovery, and reduce pain.

How Does It Work?

This type of massage works on deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue (fascia). Using a combination of techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and assisted stretching, the therapist works to break down adhesions (tight bands of muscle or scar tissue), increase circulation, and restore proper muscle function.

Remedial sports massage also helps calm the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and improve your body’s awareness of movement (proprioception), which is essential for both performance and injury prevention.

Benefits of Remedial Sports Massage

Remedial sports massage offers a wide range of benefits, including:

Pain Relief

Helps ease tight, sore muscles and relieve chronic or acute pain caused by injury, posture, or overuse.

Improved Mobility

Releases restrictions in muscles and fascia to enhance flexibility and movement.

Injury Recovery & Prevention

Aids in the healing process by promoting circulation, reducing inflammation, and addressing muscular imbalances that could lead to future injury.

Posture Correction

Helps realign the body by releasing chronically tight or shortened muscles.

Performance Enhancement

Supports muscle recovery and function, making it a popular therapy for athletes at all levels.

Who Is It For?

Despite the name, you don’t need to be an athlete to benefit from remedial sports massage. It’s ideal for:

  • Active individuals recovering from training or injury
  • Office workers with neck, shoulder, or back tension
  • People with chronic muscular pain or postural problems
  • Anyone experiencing stiffness, limited movement, or repetitive strain
  •  Individuals preparing for or recovering from surgery or physical rehab
